Here is why you need this course:
Day 1 includes:
This great workshop comprising theory and practical components that will provide you with skills and drills that you can implement into your current training and coaching programs immediately. Covering Speed Mechanics to Maximise Athlete Efficiency – Biomechanics, Physiology & Physics of Sport Speed.
Day 2 Course modules include:
Mechanics in Speed for Explosive Force
Athlete Functional Mechanics
Plyometrics and Core Strength
There are also 2 practical sessions (with emphasis on Dynamic Warmup techniques) comprising: Acceleration and Linear Speed and Multidirectional Speed and COD
This is a full day course that will provide you with skills and drills that you can implement into your current training and coaching programs immediately.
Athlete functional mechanics – Learn how to decrease the risk of injuries by understanding hip, knee and ankle function in running. Gain an understanding of the stability and mobility required in joint structures and simple exercises to improve your athletes performance
Acceleration and linear speed – A practical session where the coaches become the athletes and experience techniques and drills presented in the theory presentation relating to acceleration and straight line speed.
Mechanics in speed for explosive force – Learn the correct mechanics required including foot strike, foot recovery, change of direction mechanics including acceleration and deceleration.
Plyometrics and Core Strength – Learn the science and application of plyometric training. Learn which exercises are appropriate for varying sports and positions and how to implement them safely into a weekly training unit. Learn the importance of the core as a foundation of maximum athletic performance, discover what the ‘new core’ looks like for athletic conditioning and best practice modes of development.
Multidirectional speed & COD – A practical session where the coaches become the athletes and experience techniques and drills presented in the theory presentation relating to multidirectional and change of direction speed.
WHY YOU NEED THIS COURSE?
World leading technical drills to maximise performance in straight line and multidirectional speed, and reactive agility. These drills and combinations can be applied to any field or court based sport to unlock the true athletic potential of your players. You will also leave with a bank of tools to increase explosive force and ensure recovery and regeneration of your athletes and players.
Gain extensive knowledge of biomechanics, physiology and physics involved in speed mechanics to maximise athlete efficiency as well as practical skills and drills to include immediately in your training, coaching programs and sessions.

Ranell Hobson has over 20 years experience teaching sport speed and agility. She has national and international qualifications relating to sport speed as well as currently training and competing at the highest international level for sprints. As such, she is in the unique position of not only knowing what she is talking about, but also actively pursuing excellence in speed on the worldwide stage for herself.
THERE IS A REAL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SPEED TRAINING FOR TRACK ATHLETES AND SPORTS TEAMS PLAYERS and Ranell has researched this thoroughly to ensure that her programs are specifically suited to the athlete’s needs for their chosen code. She has created training programs that are specific to increased sport speed for your athlete’s designated sport. She has also personally trained the ASSA coaches in order to provide the athletes with the best possible learning and training environment. There is a real difference between a track athlete and a soccer, rugby, AFL or any other sport’s athlete and ASSA Training Programs are designed to reflect that.
She has recently completed her Masters degree in Sports Coaching at UQLD and is attaining HD levels. Alongside her CSCS certification, she is also an award winning teacher.
Her passion lies within youth development, particularly strength and movement training to assist with a long career for our athletes in the sport of their choosing.
Ranell brings to her workshops and courses an environment that facilitates discussion and coach interaction, where evidence-based learning is paramount and excellence of drill execution is displayed and participation is encouraged.
